Form to the Back,Site-Specific Installation, wood and glass, ~ 86" X 50" X 36", 2010 Form to the Back strives to become a chameleon to its surroundings. The chameleon perceives the colour of its environment and has the ability to change the colour of its skin allowing it to blend in with various surroundings. This can provide protection from its predator as it renders itself invisible, but, primarily the colour signifies the mood or temperament of the chameleon as a mode of communication. The wood inspired panes of glass shift in hue and colour but pledge themselves to stay in conversation with accompanying plywood panels. With this agreement, the window becomes the wall and the wall becomes window, displaying the wooden vista. In miming the mathematical polyhedrons that form the structure of the dome, the structure of Form to the Back unfolds away, or perhaps back into the form. EXHIBITION HISTORY |
